Orange Juice, Farmer's Boys: Lyceum, London

Mick Sinclair, Sounds, 11 December 1982

IN THE sound ruining Lyceum even the normally wondrous Farmer's Boys have trouble. Their chirpy minimal sound gets distorted into a tinny grating which performs GBH upon the assembled earholes. The voice of singer Bazz, surely Norfolk's answer to Rod Stewart, gets hideously mutilated into a harsh shriek. The band's "crucial rural issues", so vital and enjoyable in smaller, clubbier environs are completely destroyed in this Mecca folly, er, ballroom.
