Pacific Gas And Electric: Pacific Gas And Electric (CBS stereo playable mono 63822; 37s 6d)

Richard Green, New Musical Express, 29 November 1969

THIS ALBUM is obviously a collection or the group's newest recordings, as the sound has changed out of recognition. Gone has the rock and roll sound and the influence is a lot bluesier and heavy, the sound being tighter and the freakouts more frequent. Even though the first track, 'Bluesbuster', is rather reminiscent of Screamin' Jay Hawkins, the total feel of the album is one of progression. This demonstrates how much a band can change in eighteen months.
