Ralph Tresvant: Ralph Tresvant (MCA)

Amy Linden, Rolling Stone, 7 February 1991

RALPH TRESVANT is a pretty package, but once you rip off the ornamentation, all you're left with is a box filled with Styrofoam peanuts and a lot of ribbons and bows. Tresvant, who was the lead vocalist for New Edition, is the last of that crew to release a solo disc, and while his former band mates have developed some sort of discernible audio personality, be it gangsta or lover, Tresvant doesn't seem to know what he wants to be now that he is all grown up.
