Rita Coolidge: Now The Delta Lady Is Out On Her Own

DURING THE Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour, Joe Cocker each night would take the microphone and announce "Here she is, our own Delta Lady, Rita Coolidge, singing 'Superstar'," and a frail, delicate lady with long thick black hair would come forward from the crowd on stage and begin singing with what one critic called "the only true sensual voice in rock and roll."
