Rock and Television: The Tube Top 40

Erik Himmelsbach, Request, November 1999

DAWSON HAS Joey on a boat, and they’re passionately kissing. Adolescent hormones are quietly raging, and Dawson makes it clear he wants to, um, get to the next base. As the smooching continues, P.J. Olsson’s melancholy ballad ‘Ready for a Fall’ wafts in the background. Not a good sign – the music tells us Dawson is going to strike out. No one is happier at our hero’s bad fortune than Olsson. "Dawson was hoping to get laid that night," the singer/songwriter says. "He’s not getting any, and my song was playing. I thought it was really cool placement."
