MUCH OF Roland Kirk's life has been a dogmatic and frustrating crusade to make his listeners realize that the reason he plays two or three instruments at once, crashes gongs, toots whistles, grunts and sings is that he's feeling all those sounds and things at once and want to express them concurrently.
