Rolling Stones: Year Of The Stones' New Heart
Keith Altham, New Musical Express Annual, December 1968
THIS WAS THE year of the "heart" transplant for the Rolling Stones at a stage when it was feared the patient was fading away. The infamous drug trials and other legal disputes appeared to be taking their toll on Britain's most aggressive group. 'We Love You' was a fine single but it had been produced under the kind of pressures which are hardly conducive to providing original material and many critics heard echoes of the Beatles' 'All you Need Is Love' in the work.
