AS STAGE GIMMICKS go, not wearing shoes is a pretty lame one, but it's what the tabloids of the '60s would inevitably focus on when writing about Sandie Shaw. And while it may have helped generate column inches, this obsession with the singer's naked plates often meant some terrific music was overlooked.
