Sequel Excites Pretenders
Don Snowden, Los Angeles Times, 21 June 1981
THE PRETENDERS are gearing up for another assault on the rock world. Things have been fairly quiet in the British quartet's camp since the band's debut album and tour established it as one of the most potent forces in 1980s rock. The lone sign of activity was the release of Extended Play, a five-song collection of English-only singles, and a live version of 'Precious' intended to bring American fans up to date with the band's recorded output. Now the Pretenders are applying the finishing touches to the much-anticipated second album, currently set to reach the stores at the end of July.
