Silver Apples

Richard Gehr, The Village Voice, 23 January 1997

AN AKIMBO version of hippie-band staple 'In the Midnight Hour' was the only thing about the Silver Apples' recent appearance suggesting they were anything other than a great new state-of-the-synth electro-pop band. In reality, this was the first performance in 25 years of an act whose cult derives from a mere two albums: 1968's Silver Apples and the following year's Contact. (The tapes of a third, unreleased album have vanished.)
