Despite an acclaimed album in Gish, and the offer of stadium shows alongside Kurt's clan and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Chicago's SMASHING PUMPKINS are loathe to give up the hot breath of intimate gigs to join the "popcorn and peanut" circuit.
