Smokey Robinson: Berklee Performance Center, Boston
Jim Sullivan, The Boston Globe, 29 July 1980
CAROLE GARDINER first saw Smokey Robinson in 1965, when he and his group, the Miracles, went to London as part of a Motown Revue. Since then, Carole – a partially blind typist for England's Inland Revenue Service – has travelled to New York for the Miracles' farewell tour in 1972, followed Robinson around England for his 1977 and 1978 tours, and flew to Boston for Saturday night's first show at Berklee, explaining gleefully that a pen-pal friend from Revere was able to get tickets.
