Stereolab, The High Llamas: 9.30 Club, Washington DC
David Stubbs, Vox, February 1998
WASHINGTON DC encapsulates all America's contrasts in extremis. Up on Capitol Hill, they're running the country. Over at the White House, he's running the world. Around the city are dotted several universities full of fast-track, nerdy preppies who in a few year's time will be running the world too. The remainder of the city is a ruined post-industrial landscape that looks like an economic tornado has hit it. DC is America's murder capital, caught in the drugs corridor between Miami and New York.
