Stevie Wonder: Rainbow Theatre, London

Tony Cummings, Black Music, March 1974

THE RETURN of the magus. Stevie Wonder at the first house at London's Rainbow. Squint and you can see the aura of genius glowing from Stevie's constantly bouncing head as he's lead on stage by one of his beautiful trio of foxes. Afro robes flowing. But it's to the drums he moves, where a fleshy dude had been hitting a powerhouse rhythm in Wonderlove's long, repetitive, instrumental.
