Sting and The Police: The Rhetoric of Stardom

IT IS NOT Sting but his alter ego Gordon Sumner who opens the door of the smart Hampstead house, one hand restraining a large, black, comfortingly ugly dog. His band, the Police, have taken a break between world-conquering concert tours. For Sting, this evidently also means a rest from being the apotheosis of fashion.
