IT'S HARD TO BELIEVE that rock has been on this planet for two decades. My own involvement with the music, as a producer in these past few years, has seemed like a lifetime. I have seen the music grow in strength, originality, and magic. But in any popular art form strength can become posture, originality can become pretense, and magic can become ritual.
