The Birthday Party: Mutiny

Clinton Walker, Rolling Stone (Australia), January 1984

AND SO THE Birthday Party finally — well what? ... "break up" seems an inadequate term. Implode? OD? Burn-out? It's a difficult task to do justice to the demise of what is/was arguably the most important rock band Australia has ever produced. Their influence is all-pervasive and probably yet to have its full impact This EP, Mutiny, will stand as the band's epitaph.
