The Byrds: Glenn Memorial Church, Atlanta GA

Miller Francis jr., The Great Speckled Bird, 7 February 1969

THE BYRDS are, always have been, and (as things look now) will continue to be the most consistently excellent, and under-rated, rock and roll group in America. Their crowning achievement is The Notorious Byrd Brothers, the most musically integrated electronic album to date. But Younger Than Yesterday and Sweetheart of the Rodeo are among the finest recordings in the medium, and even the three earlier recordings compare quite favorably with anything being done today. Judging from the concert given by The Byrds at Glenn Memorial Church at Emory last Friday night, they are about to make another in their incredible series of innovative contributions to the development of rock music.
