The dB's: Stands for DeciBels (Albion AB105)

PERHAPS THE most fertile period for pop-rock experimentation were the years between the end of the Merseyboom and the beginning of the Woodstock/FM radio era. It was a time when, especially in Britain, the boundaries of the three-minute single still held rampant excess in check; when people were discovering that an element of weirdness could be injected into pop music for the first time and be accepted commercially. So we got bits of raga, backward tapes, feedback and even a hint of dissonance. The music glowed with a naivete and joy of discovery that would pretty much be extinguished by egoism and high technology from 1969 until '77.
