The Dream Syndicate: Medicine Show (A&M)
RJ Smith, Creem, October 1984
WELL, IT was fun while it lasted. In 1982, the Dream Syndicate put out Days Of Wine And Roses, a silly-ass tribute to the feeling in the music of the Velvet Underground, a laugh on both bands and a red-hot rocket, too. In 1983 there were shows coast-to-coast, with new songs, a new bassist and the intertwining guitars of Steve Wynn and Karl Precoda — flowing blazing and slow into each other like lava from twin volcanos — and all signs pointed towards a great second album.
We're still waiting for it.
