The Godfathers: More Songs About Love And Hate (Epic)

Paul Lester, Melody Maker, 13 May 1989

THE GODFATHERS should be reminded that the noise of now is about plumping for one extreme or the other. More Songs is yet another half-way house of wholly ordinary motion and far too tepid emotion. Not that it is indecisive. No, the Godfathers realised years ago that what they wanted was to be a living, breathing rock encyclopaedia, a walking compilation that, for the umpteenth time since January, has this reviewer demonstrating his egghead intimacy with The History of Rock'n'Roll.
