ONCE UPON a time in Sheffield, England, there were four men who called themselves the Human League. They made expressive synthesizer music with intriguing lyrics and brought forth many interesting images. They were cult favorites. But you never saw the four men, because when they were pictured, it was in the shadows or in fuzzy Polaroids.
