The James Gang

John Swenson, Beetle, 30 November 1972

THE JAMES Gang is currently suffering from the growing pains involved in a major personnel shakeup. The loss late last year of Joe Walsh, the group's lead guitarist, lead singer, principal songwriter and driving force seemed at first to be an insurmountable obstacle to the future of the band, but drummer Jim Fox and bassist Dale Peters wasted no time in coming up with a new lineup to replace Walsh. In the space of just a few months the group had recorded and released a brand new album and completed a nationwide tour. The new James Gang features lead guitarist Dom Troiano and lead singer Roy Kenner, two Canadian musicians who formerly played together in two obscure bands, Bush and Mandala.
