The Passions: Eric's, Liverpool

Penny Kiley, Melody Maker, 26 January 1980

THE PASSIONS' return to Liverpool was a pleasant surprise after their last visit, when inauspicious circumstances had clouded their performance. And another contrast was provided by tonight's headliners, the Mo-Dettes, for the two groups seemed to have little in common. The Passions aren't particularly pretty, or particularly "fun" either. We feel we're supposed to take them seriously, and we're right, they do have more depth.
