The Pixies, Big Dipper, the Bags: Three local bands on the rise

ENNUI AND nostalgia can become frequent traveling companions for veteran club-crawlers of the Boston rock scene, those folks searching for a new kind of kick, but coming up empty and thus looking back to various glory days like the early '80s when the Del Fuegos lived here and Mission of Burma ruled the avant-garde roost. But hold on. Wipe away that mist, and consider this past weekend in clubland — nights spent with the Bags at the Rat Friday and Big Dipper and the Pixies at T.T. the Bear's Place Saturday — which proved to be a veritable rock 'n' roll elixer.
