"YOU'RE NOT the real Residents!" shouts a heckler. He may or may not have a point – there is no way of telling. Since 1972, the Residents have revelled in an anonymity so zealous that nobody knows who the group members were or are. The joke is that nobody actually cares: the world has resisted their charms, and devotees wouldn't have it any other way.
