The Sophisticated Boom-Boom of Pearl Harbor & the Explosions
Byron Coley, New York Rocker, July 1979
IN MAY 1966 my fifth grade English teacher, Ms. Sarah Graufmann (hi, Sarah!), asked that the class write down the place they would most like to visit and explain why. My scrawl went something like "I would like to go to California so that I can see hot rods and girls in over-exposed bikinis." To this day I can remember that part about "over-exposed" bikinis, the California image having been so well supplanted on my young rube's psyche.
