WHEN I WAS YOUNGER, I had a lot of strange listening habits. For instance, I vowed in 1995 to listen to no music made after 1970 — except for bands that had pre-existed and had released albums before that date. This sort of formalist exercise wasn't really much of an experiment — it was closer to an ideological stance.
