Thin White Rope - Taut

Keith Cameron, Vox, October 1991

IT'S A TRIBUTE to their dramatic way with all things guitarological that California's Thin White Rope are as well known for other people's songs as their own. A career spanning six years and five albums is littered with some classic rock'n'roll ghosts exhumed and brought back to life by the Rope - Can's 'Yoo Doo Right', Lee Hazelwood's 'Some Velvet Morning', The Byrds' 'Everybody's Been Burned', Gene Pitney's 'Town Without Pity', Jimi Hendrix's 'May This Be Love'... A suitably eclectic list for a band whose music has proved perilously difficult to categorise.
