CURRENT DEFINITIONS of jazz are clearly somewhat flexible, judging by the avant-rock double bill that closed this year's London Jazz Festival on Sunday night. The founding fathers of German ambient minimalism, Cluster, shared a bill with the Chicago-based instrumental sound sculptors Tortoise, their sets even overlapping in the middle like sonic Venn diagrams.
