Until the huge international impact of U2, the upper rungs of rocknroll had been almost totally dominated by musicians from Britain and America. For a four-piece band from Dublin, making it happen in London was a big enough dream. Making it to "the toppermost of the poppermost", as John Lennon called it, was a wild fantasy.
