Underground Rhapsody: Sonic Youth

Mark Sinker, City Limits, 30 August 1990

I GET BACK to Bay Ridge just after midnight, to find the guys in the house watching Sonic Youth on Night Music in the room with all the books. This room is something else. Back when he was a full-time therapist, with an office on the ground floor, Joe, a Brooklyn Italian-American who's lived here since the earlier '70s, used it for deeper therapy with special clients. Complete with hangings, purple light bulbs and an oil-projector – invited them up here and then they all dropped acid.
