WHEN WAYNE COUNTY left his native state of Georgia, "because it was icky, and I got shot at", he meant to take a trip down to sunny California where the hippies hung out. Instead he ended up on the streets of New York, the beginning of a personal odyssey which took him from gutter queen to actor/playwright to Warholite to Bowie-protege to rock star to movie star (among other things).
