Wendy And Lisa: Town & Country Club, London
Chris Roberts, Melody Maker, 6 May 1989
WOMEN IN unison. A glaring gaggle. A terrifying prospect. Wasn't it in fact Dorothy Parker, theoretically one of their own, who wrote, "I hate women. They get on my nerves"? Didn't Travis Bickle, the greatest poet of the 20th Century, snarl, "Women, they're the worst. It's like a f***ing union"? And was it not Emily Bronte who wrote, "Time wore on at the Grange in its former pleasant way, till Miss Cathy reached 16"? You see my point.
