2021 INTRODUCTION: Wrote this story based on interviews I had with Deep Purple the night they played Pirate's World in Dania, Florida, on December 16th, 1972. According to their Tour Archive opening acts that night were Fleetwood Mac and Dick Heckstall-Smith. Don't remember the latter, but back in those days Fleetwood Mac toured constantly as a journeyman British Blues Band. This would've been the line-up that released Bare Trees — Mick Fleetwood, John and Christine McVie, fronted by Danny Kirwan and Bob Welch.
