Yaz: Upstairs At Eric's (Mute/Sire)

Richard Riegel, Creem, March 1983

"YAZ," ARE really "Yazoo," and still go by that name in the U.K. and Europe, but for North American consumption they had to drop the "oo," as an import-duty concession to some indignant locals with simultaneous claim to the moniker. No sweat, us Yanks picked up on the likewise-rechristened "English" Beat, and forgot whoever it was who made them change, so what's in a name if it ain't got that beat etc.?
