Spike

 Spike

Spike was the punk nom de plume of journalist Louise Bolotin, who began her career at 14 writing for Edinburgh punk fanzine Wrong Image. At 16, in 1978, she began working for Edinburgh City Lynx, the Scottish capital’s equivalent to Time Out, chiefly covering the lively music scene there, as well as interviewing big names on tour. She also freelanced for the short-lived inky Pop Star Weekly. Some four years in, she moved on to writing about other subjects, these days mainly TV, business and touristy stuff about her adopted home of Manchester. She is still passionate about music – a regular gig-goer, she loves seeing local bands as much as the famous ones.
