Aphrodite's Child: 'Rain & Tears' 300 Yrs Old!
Derek Boltwood, Record Mirror, 30 November 1968
ONCE UPON a time, about three hundred years ago as the crow flies, a German organist with nothing better to do sat down at his German organ and composed a song. A song that was destined to bring him fame as a hit record in 1968, when revived by Aphrodite's Child. And 'Rain and Tears' is the first recording in English by this three man group from Greece — the disc has made quite an impact on the Continent, and it looks like repeating fits success over here.
