Eddi Fiegel: John Barry A Sixties Theme; Geoff Leonard et al: John Barry A Life In Music
Fred Dellar, MOJO, January 1999
IT WAS during the '50s and early '60s that a young trumpet-player from York ambitious, steeped in jazz tradition but possessing a unique pop sensibility set about turning the British music scene on its head. Having led one of the most popular instrumental groups of the period, the John Barry Seven, the former John Barry Prendergast quickly made his mark on the Swinging '60s, becoming musical director for TV pop shows, assuming full responsibility for the Ember label and starting his own management agency.
