Erma Franklin: If It Wasn't For Bad Luck...

SOME GUYS (so the latest Persuaders' single on Atlantic would have you believe) have all the luck and that goes for the gals too. In the case oi Miss Erma Franklin renowned sister of Lady Soul, Aretha, it's a matter of 'if it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have no luck at all', an adage that crops up in many a blues tune. For Erma's professional career seems to have been dogged with consistent misfortune all of which has been through circumstances beyond anybody's control — at least most times.
