Fear: The Record
Barney Hoskyns, NME, 1982
QUITE WHY Fear have created such a stir on the L.A. punk scene is far from apparent from this Record. Smarter they may be than you average apprentice dimestore mohican, but they merely sound older. Joey Shithead's 'New Wave Sucks' may not be the most graceful or even the most eloquent punk anthem ever composed, but at least D.O.A. sound like they're there somewhere, an energy is bouncing off into the atmosphere.
