Foghat: Scrabble Named Group
Jim Esposito, Zoo World, 10 May 1973
2013 NOTE: A big Savoy Brown fan back in the day, much as I loved the group's transformation which produced Street Corner Talking I was still fond of the previous band who'd recorded Looking In, which still ranks as one of their better albums. As a result I was on to Foghat almost immediately, recognizing the musicians. Also dug Dave Edmunds, a generally under rated rock 'n roller.
Lonesome Dave Peverett was rather diplomatic about their previous experience when interviewed for this story. As I explain in my story on Savoy Brown (and Them Changes) we now know the reason three-fourths of the band quit and formed their own group was because Kim Simmonds and his brother Harry, the manager, controlled Savoy Brown and most of the money, and all the other musicians were pretty much the hired help.
