Frankie Valli and the Four Lovers
Pete Grendysa, Bear Family Records, 1989
IF CHICAGO AIN'T Nothin' But A Blues Band, then Newark ain't nothin' but an Italian quartet. It's a safe bet that the northern New Jersey cities contain more Italian singers, musicians, and show business types than fabled Napoli ever had. The dreary coastal plain that encompasses the cities of Paterson, Newark, Passaic, and Jersey City is relieved only by The Palisades, a natural barrier that does nothing to shield Jerseyites from the bright lights and dark secrets of Manhattan. Singing can do wonders for the environment.
