Gang of Four: Agitprop Rock

Don Snowden, L.A. Weekly, 3 January 1980

AMERICAN PUNKS strike the Gang of Four, Britain's punk agitprop band, as people who aren't quite sure what they're rebelling against. "These California surf punks are really weird," muses bassist Dave Allen beside the Tropicana Motel's pool. "They've got everything they want, and now they want to be punk pop stars because it's a fashion, a trend. Remember that guy with blond hair, tall, healthy, tanned? He probably thinks he's the epitome of punk."
