Mark/Almond
Jerry Gilbert, Sounds, 1972
JON MARK sits outside his local in Wimbledon, quietly supping a pint. The sun is hot and bar strangely quiet in the unusual absence of the rest of the Mark/Almond band. Just before closing time Alun Davies, guitarist with Cat Stevens, shows up having just returned from Switzerland, and starts chatting about the new house he has acquired. Jon and Alun used to be in a band together; they also recorded a joint album in the dim and distant past. Theyre still together and frequently to be found playing darts in the public bar of their local, getting drunk well away from the London hubbub.
