NEW ORLEANS IS widely recognized as the birthplace of jazz, but the Crescent City has also played a part in rock 'n' roll. Its rhythm & blues tradition has exerted an enormous influence on rock artists from the Rolling Stones to Robert Palmer to Little Feat. A rare, first-hand glimpse of that legacy will be available Tuesday night when the Roxy plays host to the Mardi Gras Mambo.
