Our Manics in Havana: Manic Street Preachers
Andrew Smith, Observer, The, 18 March 2001
THURSDAY MORNING and the short journey to the national radio station affords a first look at Havana, which turns out to be exactly what I was expecting, only more. Salsa rhythms collide with rock and disco in the desiccated streets. '50s-vintage Chevys clang past, flanked by buildings which appear ready to crumble to nothingness in the face of the first stiff breeze to blow in from the Caribbean.
