The Beatles in Hamburg
Gillian G. Gaar, Goldmine, 25 November 1994
ON DECEMBER 27, 1960, the Beatles appeared at the Litherland Town Hall Ballroom in Liverpool in a performance widely regarded as being a turning point in their career. The band, in one form or another, had been playing in the Liverpool area for over three years, and in May 1960 had gone on its first tour (albeit a mere seven days in Scotland, backing singer Johnny Gentle).
