The Dictators Look For The Perfect Wave
Ira Robbins, Trouser Press, June 1978
The Record Plant, one of New York's top pro recording studios, is located in a fairly anonymous office building just west of Eighth Avenue in a basically seedy part of Times Square. While the hookers and junkie-vandals do their respective things in the sunlight, rock bands busy themselves inside; recording, mixing, arguing and hanging out. Throughout much of March, two bands occupied the Plant, working in close proximity, and stopping during breaks to chew the fat in a lounge near the entrance.
