Dakota, Little Richard had gone off to theological school, Jerry Lee Lewis was persona non grata on American airwaves since he'd married a kissin' cousin of tender years, and Chuck Berry was about to be sent away for four years because an over-enthusiastic female fan had been caught crossing a state line in the trunk of his car.
